ODYSSEY SC
(September, 2009)
Story by Christy Egan

Odyssey SC is the leading siring son of the beautiful Top Ten, Regional and Buckeye Champion
stallion Versace (Fame VF+ x Precious As Gold by *El Shaklan). His dam, Latoura Echo is a
daughter of U.S. and Canadian National Champion and Scottsdale Champion Stallion, Echo
Magnifficoo, and his tail-female line features National Champion Halter and performance Gai
Parada+++/, and two crosses to the legendary Crabbet import *Serafix. Latoura Echo is the dam
of six offspring, four of them major national winners, including Top Tens: Vestamente,
Odysseus HS, FM Odessa and seven-time National Top Ten and 2009 Canadian Reserve
National Champion Stallion, FM Echota. All are full siblings to Odyssey SC.

Odyssey SC is also the leading show horse and sire produced from this cross. He began his
show career as a yearling in 2000, winning the Scottsdale Breeder’s Cup Junior Championship,
Region 9 Halter Sweepstakes title (unanimously), and a U.S. National Top Ten in the Yearling
Colt Sweepstakes. His three-year-old year was brilliant as he won back-to-back National
Champion Futurity Colt titles, first in Canada, and then in the United States. The Reserve
Canadian National Champion Stallion in 2006, Odyssey SC returned to the show ring in 2008,
beginning the year at the Scottsdale Show where he was named unanimous Champion in the 8 &
Older Halter Stallions, and then Scottsdale Reserve Champion Senior Stallion. He closed the year
with a Top Ten in the Senior Stallion Halter at the 2008 U.S. National Championships.
In the summer of 2009 Odyssey SC was named Canadian National Champion Stallion, an honor
long overdue and considered well-deserved by his judges and his peers.

The sire of 200 offspring, Odyssey SC is primarily a purebred Arabian sire with 188 registered
purebred get and just 12 Half-Arabian offspring. To his credit, seven of the 12 Half-Arabians are
champions and two are national winners. Odyssey SC’s leading champion Half-Arabian offspring
are He Has Risen HF (x AP Duette), 2009 Youth National Champion HA Stock/Hunter Gelding
Halter JTH, and Jackee O (x Fames Lady Jane), 2009 Canadian National Champion HA
Stock/Hunter Halter Mare ATH. Both are out of daughters of The Color Of Fame, as is multi-
Regional winning Half-Arabian Odyssey SC daughter, California Dreamingg (x Mi Shahrona
Norsk) and Class A and Regional Champions, Summer Love WF ( x Love And Fame)
and CH Dancin In the Dark (x Norsks Famenco Dancer).

Odyssey SC’s purebred winning youngsters arrived on the national scene in 2003 and 2004, and
have been conspicuous national arena winners ever since. Grand Odyssey (x GA Mi Grandlady)
was the first Odyssey SC offspring to win a national title as a 2004 U.S. National
Top Ten Sweepstakes Colt. He was then exported to New Zealand where he was named 2005
New Zealand National Champion Junior Colt. Another 2003 foal, Heir To Odyssey X (x Marshah)
was exported to South Africa and was the 2004 South African National Champion Junior Colt.
Odyssey SC is the sire of two Canadian National Champions and two Reserve National Champion
purebreds. WC Iliad (x LH Dakoda) is a 4-time U.S. and Canadian Top Ten in halter and Hunter
Pleasure, and was the 2007 Canadian Reserve National Champion in the Hunter Pleasure
Amateur. In 2008 TRJ Copper Monet (x TRCopperclassique) was the Canadian National
Champion Halter Mare, Amateur. TRJ Copper Monet has four U.S. and Canadian National Top
Ten awards in halter. Also at the 2008 Canadian National Championships, WR Onassis (x Lillian)
was the National Champion Two-Year-Old Jackpot Colt. Successor AAL (x TF Psyches Angel)
was Top Ten at the 2009 Canadian National Championships in Gelding Halter Amateur, and then
went on to be named 2009 Canadian Reserve National Champion in Futurity Gelding Halter.

Arabians and Half-Arabians sired by Odyssey SC have won 31 National Top Ten awards,
four National Championships and Two Reserve National Championships to date. Though these
are nearly all halter awards, there has been a glimmer of performance talent-to-come with WC
Iliad’s three national Top Tens and a Reserve National Championship in the Hunter Pleasure
division, and Journey X’s (x Marissa Bey) 2008 Canadian National Top Ten in the
Western Pleasure Junior Horse class.

Odyssey SC has sixteen purebred and Half-Arabian national winners and 90 Class A Champions
and/or Reserve Champions and/or Regional winners, giving this bright young sire a 49%
champion/reserve champion rating among those offspring old enough to compete.
Odyssey SC’s best cross to date has been with granddaughters and great-granddaughters of
national champion *Padron, through Padrons Psyche, Psymadre, Magnum Psyche, Padrons
Mahogany and FS Ritz. This successful cross is closely followed by a notable cross with Bey
Shah daughters and granddaughters. These matings appear to be particularly effective when
backed up by additional line breeding to Odyssey SC’s superstar ancestors like *Serafix,
*Aladdinn, and Russian Arabian bloodlines that are complimentary to the *Padron line.

Odyssey SC’s oldest offspring are now seven. He is the sire of 98 males and 102 females.
Almost half of his get are bay, about a third are chestnut, with about 5% registered grey.
Although he has long since surpassed most of his ancestors in the show ring, at just ten
years of age, he is also well on his way to being a superstar among them as a
truly great sire of champions.
